Drug Rehabilitation Requirement

AIM

• To provide structured and planned drug treatment and activities to drug misusing offenders.

• To reduce drug dependency by providing rapid access to drug treatment.

• To provide access to drug using offenders to a range of interventions depending on their treatment needs.

WHO

• Offenders sentenced by the Court to a Drug Rehabilitation Requirement.

 

WHAT

• Reducing drug related offending.
• Providing a range of demanding activities that will assist in rehabilitating the offender.
• Assisting offenders to be honest about their drug use through regular drug testing.
• Helping offenders to access appropriate support and assistance on completion of the order.

HOW

• Working in partnership with West Wales Substance Misuse Services and PDAC.
• Post sentence treatment planning.
• Regular drug testing.
• Access to quality activities.
• Working alongside partners.


NEXT STEP

At report stage:-

• Probation and treatment providers work together to provide the Courts with a comprehensive analysis of offending behaviour, the individual’s drug history and treatment needs.

Post Sentence:-

• Induction interviews take place.
• National Standards explained and contracts signed.
• Treatment plan examined and regularly reviewed.
• Basic skills needs assessed.
• Housing, education and employment needs assessed.
• OSAP accessed.
• Orders strictly enforced.
