Unpaid Work (also referred to as Community Payback)

AIM

To provide unpaid work to communities of Dyfed-Powys.
To create cleaner, greener and safer places to live.
To reduce the fear of crime through being more visible.
To undertake quality work that will have a long lasting effect upon the communities and offenders.

 

 

 

 

WHO

Offenders who have been sentenced by the Court to an Unpaid Requirements of between 40 and 300 hours.

WHAT

• Demanding work that will benefit other people.
• Paying back the Community for the harm or damage causes.
• Involving the Community in the work undertaken.
• Enhancing the Environment through a range of work placements.
• Making Communities Cleaner, Greener and Safer Places to Live.
• Improving skills for life.
• Providing appropriate placements and recognising diversity.
• Helping Offenders to improve their skills and gain recognised qualifications.
• Increasing the visibility and profile of Unpaid Work.
• Reducing Offending and the Fear of Crime.

• Pre-Placement Work sessions
• Open College Network Qualifications
• Basic Skills Provision
• Guided Skills Learning and practical skills development
• Pro-Social Modelling
• Quality Work Placement
• A variety of Projects that match skills and needs to the work undertaken.
• Advocacy and referral
• Offender Management Support and Liaison.
• Community Feedback.
• Working with Community Partners, the Voluntary Sector and the Community Safety Partnerships.
• Access to provision and information

 

 

NEXT STEP

At Report Stage:-

Indicate that the planned work will occur to address the following dynamic risk factors:

• Lifestyle and Associates
• Thinking and Behaviour
• Attitudes
• Employability
• Emotional Well Being
• Relationships

A referral form is completed and Unpaid Work staff are consulted over recommendations.

Post Sentence:-

• An Induction must take place
• Basic skills must be assessed
• The Rules must be explained
• An assessment form must be completed.
• 16 work appointments must be given to the Offender following consultation with the Placement manager.
• Hours must be recorded.
• Enforcement must take place.
